Okanagan Swims Program

Drown-proofing the Okanagan

Across the Lake Swim events helps fund the YMCA of Southern Interior BC Okanagan Swims program, providing water safety instruction to grade 3 students in School District 23 from Lake Country to Peachland.

Swim lessons should be accessible to all children, but unfortunately many don’t have the chance. With the abundance of pools and lakes in the Okanagan, water safety is of great importance and learning the skill at a young age can prevent many water related accidents.

Since the program’s inception in 2012, the Across the Lake Swim has donated over $166,000 and sent over 18,000 kids for free swim lessons.
