Details
This is a super fun, super safe swim for kids between the ages of 5-12. The idea is simply to have FUN! The swims are along the shore in very shallow water. In fact, most kids can stand up and run if they wanted to (and many do!). We want kids to get comfortable in the water and learn to swim with others in a non-competitive environment, and have the thrill of finishing under our arch while spectators cheer them on. Parents are welcome to be along the shore to encourage their child!Each participant will receive a swag bag with towel and a latex swim cap, and a finisher’s medal at the end.
The swims are under the supervision and management of experienced adult swimmers, with lifeguards nearby.
Pre-registration is required.
Note: If your child is an experienced swimmer, this is not the swim for them! Please do not enter your child if they have competitive swimming experience in a club environment.

Package Pickup
You can pick up packages on July 18th and July 19th from 3-7pm at Fresh Air on Dilworth Drive. The kids receive a latex swim cap that must be worn for the swim. If they are allergic to latex, please advise us when picking up the package and we can change it with a silicone cap.

FAQ
Are there awards for the Kids Swim?
Yes, each participant will receive a medal.
Are the races timed?
No, the Kids Shore Splash! is not a timed event.
Are there change rooms and showers available for after the swim?
Yes and no. There are public washrooms at the Finish Line but no showers. There is an outdoor shower at the Kelowna finish line.
Where do we park?
There is plenty of parking in the City Park parking lot if you get there early. If the lot is full, you can park 1 block away in the Chapman Parkade on Lawrence Avenue, or along the street.
What is the water temperature?
The water temperature averages 19-21C on swim day. In 2013 we had a very warm summer which resulted in a record 23C temp!
Can parents swim with the kids?
No, the swim is along the shore in very shallow water, so there is no room for parents to swim. Parents can walk along the beach to watch your child.
Are lifejackets supplied?
No, we do not supply lifejackets.
Parking
City Park has limited parking available. Get there early!
If the lot is full, there is plenty of free street parking, or park in the Chapman Parkade which is one block away on Lawrence Ave, also free.
The swim is in City Park so there is no need to catch the bus!
