Build Confidence with Our New Coaching!

December 13, 2025

Moving from pool swimming to open water can feel like a big leap. Many swimmers reach a point where the lake feels intimidating, even if their fitness is solid. That hesitation is often what keeps people from fully enjoying open water swimming.

Our new coaching program is designed to help with that transition. It offers focused, personalized support that goes beyond what we cover in our free Fresh Air Open Water Swim Clinics. This is for swimmers who want more clarity, more confidence, and steady progress in open water.

Building Swimmer Confidence

Those first few open water swims can feel overwhelming. The water moves differently, there’s less control, and it’s easy to doubt yourself. With the right guidance, that uncertainty fades quickly.

Our coaches work alongside you, helping you understand what you’re feeling in the water and how to respond to it. Waves, wind, and current become familiar instead of stressful. Confidence doesn’t come from forcing it. It comes from knowing what to do and trusting yourself to do it.

Why Personalized Coaching Works

Everyone swims differently. That’s why we don’t follow a one-size-fits-all approach.

Your coach focuses on what you need, whether that’s refining technique, building endurance, or simply feeling calmer in open water. Sessions are shaped around your goals and your current ability, so progress feels realistic and achievable.

Over time, you’ll notice real changes in how you move through the water and how you feel while swimming. That sense of progress is often what keeps people coming back.

Level 1: Getting the Basics Right

For swimmers newer to open water, strong fundamentals make everything easier.

You’ll work on breathing in less predictable conditions, finding a balanced body position, and smoothing out your stroke so swimming feels more relaxed and efficient. These skills create a solid base that helps you adapt to different lakes and conditions with confidence.

Level 2: For Swimmers Ready to Go Further

More experienced swimmers benefit from fine-tuning and intention. Advanced sessions focus on endurance, efficient sighting, stroke techniqus and smart pacing so longer swims feel manageable instead of exhausting.

Learning when to settle in and when to push makes a big difference in open water. Small technical adjustments often unlock noticeable gains, not just in performance, but in enjoyment too. Video analysis will compare your swim stroke so you can see a before and after.
