New Start Line Area

Start LineHave you seen our new start line area? Check it out and get familiar with where you need to go. This map will also be in your event packages.

With the increase in numbers, we have streamlined how you get to the actual start line. In previous years, all swimmers were able to be in the start area, but this year only the starting wave will be allowed at the Start Line. Make sure you know the wave you are in by the colour of your swim cap (your wave # will also be clearly marked in your event package).

How it works: To start, only Wave 1 is allowed in the Start Area. Wave 2 will be in Corral A and Waves 3-6 will be in Corral B. Once the swim has started and Wave 1 is swimming, Wave 2 will move into the Start Area, Wave 3 will move to Corral A, and Waves 4-6 will remain in Corral B and so on. Each wave is separated by approximately 2-3 minutes.

All swimmers must cross over the timing mat. If you do not cross over the mat, we are assuming you are NOT SWIMMING!

Be sure to get your warm ups and potty time in before you go to Corral A and the Start Area as the wave won’t wait for you!

This event sounds very well organised. However, I am a first time swimmer in this event, and have a couple of questions. How many swimmers per wave will there be? I have a “team” Jane Across The Lake Swim registered- will we all be in the same wave? or how are we allocated to any particular wave? Thank you for your help.

There are 6 waves with 110 swimmers in each wave. Teams won’t necessarily be in the same wave as the waves are determined by your estimated time to complete the swim.

On the facebook page I was told I could pick up my race package on the morning of the race as I am from out of town. Where do I pick it up – at the City park in Kelowna (where the gear storage is)?

It is at the Information Tent at the Finish Line in City Park.
