Elk Lake Swim Venue Change

An important update to this year’s swim.

After careful consideration, we’ve decided to move the event from Elk Lake to Thetis Lake.

The reason for the change is simple: Elk Lake has experienced recurring algae bloom closures in recent years, creating uncertainty for swimmers and organizers alike. We want to provide the best possible experience and avoid the risk of a last-minute cancellation or disruption.

The good news is that everything else remains exactly the same.

• Same swim distances
• Same great open water experience

The only thing changing is the venue.

Thetis Lake is one of the premier freshwater swimming locations in the Victoria area, with clean water, a beautiful natural setting, and excellent conditions for open water swimming. We believe it offers an even better experience for swimmers and are excited to bring the event there.

We know venue changes can raise questions, and we’ll be sharing updated event maps, parking information, and race day details well in advance of the event.
