CANADA'S LARGEST OPEN WATER SWIM

In 2019 we had the largest number of registrations in the 71 year history of the swim! Over 1330 swimmers registered to challenge themselves to swim across Okanagan Lake and cross it off their bucket list.

We will have up to 12 waves with a maximum of 120 swimmers each, with swimmers of similar abilities grouped together.

With our expanded capacity, there will be at least 30 lifeguards on the water, and we are including a bus ride to the start line in your registration fee. We will again have a secure "gear corral" at the finish line where you can check in your stuff in your numbered swim bag to pick up after your swim.

There will be treats in the event packages this year (we strive to have the best goodie bag around!) and more optional souvenirs available for purchase. And of course, the website is better than ever - don’t you think?  The water temperature for Lake Okanagan is updated every day (starting mid-June) on the website as well as through Twitter (make sure you follow us on Twitter!). Please check out our online event meeting presentation as it will answer all FAQs and get you up to speed on some important details of registration and swim day.

YMCA of OkanaganWith the success of previous year’s swims, the ATLS Society is able to reinvest our sponsorship funds (and more) back into supporting open water swimming. The YMCA Okanagan Swims program is solely funded by the Across the Lake Swim Society. The swim program sends all 3rd graders from School District #23 (Peachland to Lake Country) for free swimming lessons! In support of our mandate, we want to contribute to these swim initiatives as they help more people in our community become better open water swimmers. We see this as a win-win-win, for the ATLS, the swimmers participating in our YMCA Okanagan Swims program, and the community.

Pancake Breakfast: After the unprecedented success of the pancake breakfast last year, The Sunrise Rotary club of Kelowna will again be providing a pancake breakfast after the swim in City Park. With proceeds going to local charities including the YMCA Okanagan Swims program, it's just $5 for a yummy breakfast to help celebrate your accomplishment!

Timing by Sportstats. We are continuing our relationship with Sportstats to provide the results you are looking for fast and reliably on the beach and online.  We strive to continually put on a high quality and safe event so we the professionals do the timing.

Get Prepared! We are encouraging newcomers to get involved with our event so please check out our "Preparing For The Swim" page.

Swim Clinics. We are again offering a dedicated 6 week open water training program with the Fresh Air Open Water Swim Clinics starting in June, completely FREE to all those who have registered for our swim!
